The rafting base is at Jostedal Hotel, and the river is the Jostedøla, fed by the glacier above the valley. After the safety briefing and kit, the ICETROLL guides walk you to the put-in at the Elvepurka rock, and for about an hour and a half you paddle down the valley. The biggest waves wait in the last canyon.

The family version runs a gentler stretch of the same river — enough splash to feel like rafting, at a pace for younger crews — and ends with dry clothes and a warm drink at the base.

  • Whitewater on a glacier-fed river
  • The last canyon, where the waves are biggest
  • A gentler family stretch on the same river

The day, hour by hour

Six hours, gangway to gangway

  1. 00:00 – 01:10 Coach from the pier to the ICETROLL base at Jostedal Hotel
  2. 01:10 – 03:35 Safety briefing, kit and the walk to the Elvepurka rock — then about 1½ hours on the Jostedøla, the biggest waves in the last canyon
  3. 03:35 – 03:45 ICETROLL transfer from the base to Breheimsenteret
  4. 03:45 – 04:45 Stop at the Breheimsenteret visitor centre (entrance and refreshments at guests' own expense)
  5. 04:45 – 06:00 Coach back to the pier

00:00 is the moment the group leaves the pier — not a clock time. The family version keeps the same six hours: a beginner-friendly stretch of the river, then dry clothes, a warm drink and time at the base.
