The highest day in the catalogue. The coach climbs the Fortun valley to Turtagrø and Oscarshaug, crosses the Sognefjell pass, and turns up the Galdhøpiggvegen toll road to Juvasshytta, 1,841 metres up on the shoulder of Galdhøpiggen.

There the party divides. Half take lunch in the lodge; the other half walk the two-kilometre trail to the ice tunnel and go inside the glacier. Then they swap, and the coach brings everyone back over the pass. Bring a warm layer: inside the ice it is winter all summer.

  • Galdhøpiggen, 2,469 metres, above the tunnel mouth
  • A guided walk into ice thousands of years old
  • Lunch at Juvasshytta, 1,841 metres up
  • The Sognefjell pass twice, in morning and afternoon light
