“The Last Viking” Moves In..

Skjolden is famed for its last Vikings—tempered by mountains, glaciers, and fjords. For a thousand years, this valley sent explorers over mighty, mystical Jotunheimen, traded along deep-water routes, and met the new faith sailing from Urnes. At the very end of Sognefjord—King of the Fjords, the saga continues.

NEWS: “The Last Viking,” Ken Stornes—world-known døds (death-diving) icon—moves into Skjolden with his ship Maria Suden and sidekick David R. Berg (“Swamp Man”). Ken set a 40.5 m world record on Dec 3, 2023, with 200M+ views, features on National Geographic, appearances on the Joe Rogan Experience, and virality when Elon Musk shared his clip on X.

Just ~250 m from the pier, they host a family-friendly Viking Training & Saga Experience: row a Viking ship, try axe-throwing and archery with age-appropriate equipment and supervision, and gather for fjord-saga storytelling. On select calls: a safe, choreographed fire show. Graduates receive a Viking certificate & diploma—a perfect selfie with The Last Viking—declaring you “ready to help him ‘re-take’ Urnes and perhaps sail back to England or the US to trade (plunder?)” — all in good humor.

Operator-agnostic: Book via ECS, Nordic Gateway, DMC, Shore Ex Norway; delivered locally by Skjolden Explore.
